Chibwela Kumushi: Returning to the Village

Chibwela Kumushi: Returning to the Village
The Chibwela Kumushi ceremony, meaning 'returning to the village,' is a joyful homecoming for the Lenje people. After completing their farming tasks at distant camps, the community converges to celebrate the season's harvest and honor their ancestral spirits at the Mukumpu shrine.
The festival fosters unity and thanksgiving through traditional drumming, diverse cuisines made from the first fruits of the season, and heartfelt communal storytelling. It preserves the vital rhythm of agricultural life in Central Province.
